My son is home from school today, so he thinks my day belongs to him. We had our morning's devotion. He asked me to make him pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. He did not like the no meat bacon I gave him. He prefers turkey bacon. I am trying to get him to eat healthy, but that is not working for my 10 year old. I will keep introducing new healthier foods and hope that one day he will chose to eat healthier.

He likes spending money too. He wants to go to Toys R US.

I have always known that there is a controversy going on between God and satan. I have been reading a book that has made everything on this subject very clear to me. Here is an introductory excerpt from the book The Great Controversy, which was written in the 1900s by the most widely translated American author.
“Before the entrance of sin, Adam enjoyed open communion with his Maker; but since man separated himself from God by transgression, the human race has been cut off from this high privilege. By the plan of redemption, however, a way has been opened whereby the inhabitants of the earth may still have connection with heaven. God has communicated with men by His Spirit, and divine light has been imparted to the world by revelations to His chosen servants. “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:21.
During the first twenty-five hundred years of human history, there was no written revelation. Those who had been taught of God, communicated their knowledge to others, and it was handed down from father to son, through successive generations. The preparation of the written word began in the time of Moses. Inspired revelations were then embodied in an inspired book. This work continued during the long period of sixteen hundred years—from Moses, the historian of creation and the law, to John, the recorder of the most sublime truths of the gospel.
The Bible points to God as its author; yet it was written by human hands; and in the varied style of its different books it presents the characteristics of the several writers. The truths revealed are all “given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16); yet they are expressed in the words of men. The Infinite One by His Holy Spirit has shed light into the minds and hearts of His servants. He has given dreams and visions, symbols and figures; and those to whom the truth was thus revealed have themselves embodied the thought in human language.
The Ten Commandments were spoken by God Himself, and were written by His own hand. They are of divine, and not of human composition. But the Bible, with its God-given truths expressed in the language of men, presents a union of the divine and the human. Such a union existed in the nature of Christ, who was the Son of God and the Son of man. Thus it is true of the Bible, as it was of Christ, that, “the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” John 1:14.
Written in different ages, by men who differed widely in rank and occupation, and in mental and spiritual endowments, the books of the Bible present a wide contrast in style, as well as a diversity in the nature of the subjects unfolded. Different forms of expression are employed by different writers; often the same truth is more strikingly presented by one than by another. And as several writers present a subject under varied aspects and relations, there may appear, to the superficial, careless, or prejudiced reader, to be discrepancy or contradiction, where the thoughtful, reverent student, with clearer insight, discerns the underlying harmony.”-EGW.

In order for transformation to take place in our lives or in any society, we must be willing to change some things. Change sometimes calls for a new way of thinking; a shift in our paradigms. It is becoming aware of the things that are negatively affecting our lives and the lives of others, and taking the necessary actions to correct those things you can correct.

As with the health care system, President Obama, as well as former presidents saw a need for change in the way the health care system in this country has operated. As a result they have worked to find a way for all Americans to have affordable health care. A project that has been talked about for a century has finally materialized. This happened, as a result of the president’s persistence to bring about change. The fact that this historical event was successful shows the some people are willing to embrace change. Change is happens even in the face of resistance.

When people say that they do not want change, it is sometimes because of fear, selfishness, lack of will power, strength, faith, determination and discipline. Refusing to accept change that is designed to positively affect lives is in a sense discounting or underestimating the power of almighty God, through whom we can do all things. Let this promise give you hope in the eternal, because everything, including change, on this side of life are temporal. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom (Luke 12:32).

Paul contends in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me. You can change the undesirable things in your life if you believe you can. Within you are all the tools you need. You have to personally make the decision to accept change before change can actually occur. Once the step is taken toward change, it is now time to adapt to it.

Adam R. Gwizdala gave a vivid expression of change in the following statement: “Everything in life changes you in some way; even the smallest things. If you do not accept these changes you do not accept yourself. For through these changes bring new and greater things to you, making you wiser, as time progresses. To avoid these changes is a loss. You only live your life once. Do not waste a minute of it avoiding things. Let them come to you, and learn from them. There is always tomorrow.”

When I look back at periods in my life, I have to consider myself both a product and an agent of change, because I have had many changes in my life and each change produced results, and often favorable results. My first big change took place when I was three years old and my parents took me from one parish on the island of Jamaica, (Saint Andrew), to another one, (Portland). They left me with my grand-mother while they migrated to Great Britain. I would not see my mother again until I was about eleven years old, and my father when I was seventeen years old, and in college. I did, however, have regular correspondence with them in the form of letters, since I did not have the luxury of a telephone.

Change came again when I left for another part of the country to attend high school. One of my biggest changes was migrating to the United States. To this day change continues to take place in my life and I prefer to embrace them, rather than to evade them, because I know they happen for a divine purpose.

When I first came to this country, I went to Connecticut and today I live in Arizona. I am enjoying change, and anyone can if they do not resist the idea. All it takes is an open mind, willingness, trust and faith. Great opportunities can come with change.

Pauline LewinsonPauline Lewinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570147236918807110noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4126847779440606200.post-32424976509785856402009-11-30T08:51:00.000-08:002009-11-30T08:51:05.708-08:00HAPPY THANKSGIVINGHAPPY THANKSGIVINGPauline Lewinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570147236918807110noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4126847779440606200.post-12558652756482990062009-11-30T08:47:00.000-08:002013-06-18T18:38:09.428-07:00http://paulinelewinson.comPauline Lewinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570147236918807110noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4126847779440606200.post-68841368994227833082009-11-30T08:39:00.000-08:002009-11-30T08:39:33.755-08:00Blessings of Transformation – Love Cares Enough To Tell The TruthBlessings of Transformation – Love Cares Enough To Tell The TruthPauline Lewinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570147236918807110noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4126847779440606200.post-62061921194828518022009-02-27T13:00:00.000-08:002013-06-18T18:35:59.990-07:00Health And WellnessWhen I think of the state that our world is in as far as wellness is concerned, It saddens to see so much sickness. I often asked myself what I can do beyond what I am already doing to help people take the issue of wellness more seriously.

Having been the wellness industry for quite some time I have realized that I am living in a country where that living in state of wellness seems hardly important to many. I believe if people get grounded in Biblical principles, they will desire and take action to obtain optimal health.

There are several places in the Bible where the issue of health or wellness has been addressed. For example, In Genesis 1:29-30, it is written: Then God said:

I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. I have given every green herb for food.

I have not seen anywhere in the Bible where it is written that we should have super sized fries. Do not get me wrong, I like McDonald’s fries and I do eat them once in a rare while.

I believe we should stay away from foods that are damaging to our health; such as foods high in fat contents, white flour or rice and sugar. In general, people should really avoid a food that upsets their health.

There are many companies that have whole food products that anyone can purchase from the comfort of their homes or if they prefer go to the store; there are several whole food markets available. Many grocery stores also carry organic and whole food products. It takes a little time to research and find the right products, but for your health sake, it is worth every minute.

I find that this wellness company has many excellent products. Fourth Thursday in November in the United States; second Monday in October in Canada; commemorates a feast held in 1621 by the Pilgrims and Wampanoag Indians.2. A short prayer of thanks before a meal.

The History of Thanksgiving
Old Testament
And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will (Leviticus 22:29).Thanksgiving can be traced back to ancient times. In Exodus 15 where Moses sings thanksgiving to God after God took him and the Israelites through the red sea. The Bible, especially the Psalms is loaded with verses of thanksgiving to God. Psalm 100, 50:14, 69:30, 95:2 136, Num. 6:22-27, 2 Chronicles. 7:5-6, 1 Kings 8:62-64, 1 Chronicles. 29:14, Lev. 7:11-15 .

New Testament
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God (2 Corinthians 4:15).Heb. 13:15, John 1:14, John 1:29.
We did not celebrate Thanksgiving in Jamaica, so when I came to the United States and heard that the celebration of Thanksgiving is a tradition in the United States; I wanted to know more about its origin. So I did some research and found out that it was first celebrated in 1621. This holiday started with a meal held in by the Wampanoag Indians and the Pilgrims who settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

The Pilgrims came from England on the Mayflower and in the cold winter the Native Americans helped them to plant crops. They harvested the crops and decided that a huge celebration of thanksgiving was in order.
Webster Online Dictionary gives the following report of the History of Thanksgiving: “Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated with a feast shared amongst family and friends. In the United States, it is an important family holiday, and people often travel across the country to be with family members for the holiday. The Thanksgiving holiday is generally a "four-day" weekend in the United States, in which Americans are giving the relevant Thursday and Friday off.

Thanksgiving is closely related to harvest festivals that had long been a traditional holiday in much of Europe. The first time one of these festivals was celebrated in North American was by the Frobisher Expedition in 1578. Another event claiming to be the first Thanksgiving occurred on December 4, 1619 when 38 colonists from Berkeley Parish in England disembarked in Virginia and gave thanks to God.

Most people recognize the first Thanksgiving as taking place in December 1621, when the Pilgrims held a three-day feast to celebrate the bountiful harvest they reaped following their first winter in North America.
Two American colonists have personal accounts of the 1621 Thanksgiving in Massachusetts:George Washington, leader of the revolutionary forces in the American Revolutionary War, proclaimed a Thanksgiving in December 1777 as a victory celebration honoring the defeat of the British at Saratoga. The Continental Congress proclaimed annual December Thanksgivings from 1777 to 1783, except in 1782.It was President Abraham Lincoln that set the holiday as a regular yearly event for the final Thursday of November in 1863.”

Let every day be a day of thanksgiving, when you give thanks to the Lord. Give Him thanks in the morning when you are waking up, throughout the day and at night when you are going to bed. He focused on prayer. Prayer is one of my all time favorite topics. I pray every day throughout the day, looking for opportunities to pray. Last week I spent time examining my prayer life and decided that I need to listen more.

So I am leaving room to hear from God in every prayer moment. But how can I pray without ceasing and listen to God at the same time? By considering the listening a part of the prayer. That is how important it is to listen. I call the listening part of my prayer meditation. This allows me to focus in on what God is saying to me.

I find it especially important to do this in the mornings when I first wake up and at nights before I go to sleep. This helps me to have more clarity.

Pauline Lewinson
paulinelewinson.comPauline Lewinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570147236918807110noreply@blogger.com2
